Philippine low-cost airline Cebu Pacific (CEB) has received three new Airbus aircraft. The Manila Standard reported that the aircraft had landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
An A320ceo was delivered on August 4, an A320neo on August 3, and an A330neo on July 26. This reportedly brings the total number of aircraft received by the airline this year to 10.
CEB president and chief commercial officer said the expansion was part of its continuous fleet and network expansion.
The airline had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Airbus in July 2024 for 152 A321neo at a list price of $24bn. The order consisted of 102 A321neos plus 50 A320neo family aircraft purchase rights. The purchase agreement is expected to be completed during the third quarter of this year.
In addition, the airline will increase its services between Manila and Melbourne from December 2024 to meet growing demand. The route will increase from three flights to four.
""Since the pandemic we’ve seen South-east Asia emerge as one of our best performing markets, with three of the four fastest growth countries coming from that region,"" said Melbourne Airport chief of aviation Jim Parashos.
He added: ""The Philippines has seen a 43% growth in passengers since the pandemic, while key markets such as Vietnam and Thailand have recorded 60% and 25% growth, respectively.
The routes are serviced by its A330-900neo aircraft.
