Cebu Pacific (CEB) has undergone a major reshuffle in the top management positions. Cebu Pacific’s President and CEO, Lance Gokongwei will take over as the Chairman while Michael Szucs, presently serving as the chief executive adviser will assume the role of CEO, effective January 1, 2023.
In his new role, Szucs will lead Cebu Pacific and report to the chairman. He will also continue to work closely with the board of directors and the Gokongwei Group's Executive Committee and Executive Leadership Council.
“With this move, Szucs becomes the accountable manager who has overall accountability for the operations of Cebu Air Inc., as recognized by and documented in the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines," the company said in a statement.
Meanwhile, James Go will continue to be an adviser to the CEB Board and Executive Committee while Alexander Lao, the current chief commercial officer, will serve as president and chief commercial officer.
"In Alexander Lao's expanded role as president, he will take a more active role in supporting the chief executive officer in strategic execution and stakeholder management, including regulators, government partners, and investors, among others. His move solidifies what has long been a plan of succession to create a future-ready leadership pipeline,” the company statement added.
Before his appointment, Lao was vice president for commercial planning where he led the corporate strategy office that played an integral part in CEB's Future Size and Shape initiative in 2020.
