Cebu Pacific and Phillippine Airlines plan flights to Canada

Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific are bidding to launch flights from the Phillippines to Canada, after bilateral trade agreements between the two countries were completed on May 29th, allowing the number of flights between the two countries to be doubled in a bid to boost tourism and investment.

The flag carrier currently operates seven flights per week to Canada via Vancouver and Toronto.

Cebu Pacific intends to launch up to seven flights per week.

CAB executive director Carmelo Arcilla earlier said the new agreement amended the existing Philippine – Canada Air Services Agreement signed in December 2008 by increasing the frequency entitlement for each country to 14 flights a week from seven flights a week.

The Philippines government has so far signed new air agreements with five countries so far this year including France, Singapore, New Zealand, Myanmar and Canada.
