Cebu Air, operator of Cebu Pacific, has defended the airline’s policy on promotional fares as the government launches an inquiry into the alleged unfair treatment by low-cost carriers (LCCs) of buyers of cheap airline tickets.
The pricing policies of low-cost carriers are being investigated by a technical working group (TWG) of the House Committee on Transportation. Among them is an inquiry into the practice of carriers issuing tickets that are nonrefundable, nonreroutable, non-endorsable and which, if unused, are forfeited. Other areas under investigation is the low-cost carrier’s tendencies to over-book, cancel flights and, at times, deny boarding of some passengers.
