CBRE contracted workers at Airbus sites call off strike following improved pay offer
Contract workers for CBRE at certain UK Airbus sites have called off the strike following an improved pay offer. Over 140 cleaning and maintenance workers were originally set to strike at Airbus sites in Broughton, Wales and Filton, Bristol. The industrial action was originally scheduled for September 6 through 10. Now, the Unite union members have suspended the strike in order to vote on the new offer. ""Following an improved offer from CBRE, Unite has suspended strikes in order to ballot its members on the new offer,"" said Unite regional officer Jono Davies. Unite had claimed the strike action would ""cause disruption to Airbus' operations"". However, a spokesperson for CBRE said the strike would have involved ""a relatively small number of CBRE Global Workplace Solutions (GWS) employees"" who work at the UK sites. Airbus employees are not involved in the strike action. The OEM said it is ""working to ensure business continuity"" after Unite announced the strike. CBRE added that it was “actively working” to resolve the matter and added it has “robust plans in place to ensure there is no impact to Airbus’ operations”.
