Cathay Pacific Airways has signed a 15-year OnPointSM solution agreement with GE Aviation that covers the maintenance, repair and overhaul of the GE90-115B engine fleet for four Boeing 777-300ER aircraft and eight 777-200 Freighters ordered in August along with the 10 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft ordered in March. The OnPoint solution agreement means that GE Aviation will provide engine MRO services for Cathay Pacific's entire fleet of 58 GE90-powered Boeing 777 aircraft.
GE plans to use Taikoo Engine Services (Xiamen) Company Limited (TEXL), an affiliate of HAECO, to perform much of the maintenance under this agreement. TEXL can perform full overhaul and engine test services on GE90 engines. The company recently expanded the facility with a new
two-story, 17,500 square meter building where it will perform module
strip and build and component repair. TEXL's Xiamen facility has a test
cell, which is rated at 150,000 pounds of thrust. The four shareholders
of TEXL are Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company (HAECO), Taikoo
(Xiamen) Aircraft Engineering Company Limited (TAECO), Cathay Pacific
Airways Limited and Xiamen Aviation Industry Company Limited. TEXL is
the sole holder of a GE90 GE Branded Service Agreement in Asia,
operating under a 22-year agreement with GE to perform authorized GE90
repair services.
