Following Mount Etna's eruption on August 15, 2024, the nearby Catania Airport has cancelled around 74% of its scheduled departures as of 15:30 BST, according to Cirium analytics data.
The data recorded 91 departures cancelled so far. In addition, 56 arrivals into the airport have been cancelled - equating to 46% of all scheduled arrivals.
Cirium said that Ryanair has had the highest number of cancellations to and from the Italian airport, followed by ITA Airways and easyJet.
