CARGO AIRCRAFT CRASHES NEAR KARACHI

Four people were killed when an Ilyushin IL-76 aircraft crashed seconds after takeoff in Karachi on Sunday.

The Russian-built aircraft had been bound for Khartoum with eight people on board. It is not been confirmed whether the four bodies found were from the aircraft or on the ground. The site is still being investigated.

This is the third plane crash in four months in Pakistan and is the second aircraft to crash after take off from Karachi in four weeks.

The explosion caused by the crash was so powerful that local residents thought it was triggered by a bomb, according to local media reports. The plane hit several construction sites, which served to limit what could have been large-scale casualties.
