The Canadian federal government is being sued by several small airlines who say they lost more than $1 million due to security restrictions imposed during the Olympic Games and want to be compensated for loss of revenue and increased expenses.
During the winter Olympics, solo flights by student pilots at Boundary Bay were banned along with sightseeing flights by operators at Boundary Bay Airport and Squamish Airport.
Pat Kennedy, chief operating officer for the Pacific Flying Club, said company suffered $100,000 in losses due to significant restrictions on operations out of Boundary Bay.
