CAMAIR TAKES OFF

Cameroon’s new national flag carrier Camair-Co (Cameroon Airlines Corporation) began operations yesterday with the airline’s inaugural flight to Paris. Camair-Co plans to serve both domestic and international destinations under the airline code QC. From Douala there will be scheduled flights to Maroua and Garoua in Cameroon.

The international flight program will include Paris – via the country’s capital city Yaoundé – and N’Djamena in Chad. The carrier started operations with a Boeing 767-300ER, with a seat capacity of 210, and a 737-700 with 128 seats.

The Cameroonian airline company was established by presidential decree in 2006 and appointed Lufthansa Consulting to advise on the setting up of the new airline in 2009. The airline uses Lufthansa Technik for line maintenance and component services for its aircraft.

Camair-Co currently has 330 members of staff and is scheduled to employ up to 450 in the future.
