Caribbean Airlines (CAL) chief executive officer, Michael DiLollo, has confirmed that the airline is making progress in its turnaround plan and is about 35-40 percent on its way to viability.

“Within our employee group we have submitted the challenge of making CAL break-even within a three-year period and we are very well on our way to doing that,” DiLollo said. “I would say we would be about 35 to 40 percent on our way there. There is still much work to do and we will, in the next months as all of the initiatives come into play, add considerably to that progress.”

CAL is also in negotiations with Emirates and Qatar Airways, seeking to leverage CAL’s coverage in the Caribbean to help expand their networks.
