Corporación América Airports (CAAP) has recorded a 33.6% annual increase in passenger traffic in March 2023, taking it to 91.7% of pre-lockdown March 2019 levels across its six countries of operations.
The year-on-year growth was "supported by an ongoing recovery in travel demand after the Covid-19 pandemic, as reflected by higher load factors and the gradual resumption of routes and frequencies".
In Argentina, traffic was up 38.9%, reaching 93.% of March 2019. CAAP's Italian airports saw a 34.6% increase to 91.8% of pre-Covid levels. Brazil's increase was 16.1%, to 88.8% of 2019.
CAAP-run Uruguayan airports saw a 49% increase in March 2023, to 86.2% of 2019, Ecuador's increase was 20.2%, taking to 6.4% above 2019.
In Armenia, passenger traffic topped pre-Covid numbers for the 11th month in a row, increasing 91.2% year-on-year.
The March 2023 passenger traffic rebound was up on the 81.% of 2019 reported the month before.
"Cargo volume increased 9.8% YoY and reached 87.3% of March 2019 levels, or to 88.2% when adjusting for the discontinuation of operations in Peru," CAAP announced.
