British Airways is to resume flights between the UK and China with tickets on sale from February 2 for flights to Shanghai and Beijing.
The airline's service to the world's second biggest economy was interrupted by the coronavirus pandemic and the imposition by Beijing of strict border rules and its "zero-Covid" regime.
Those measures have since been relaxed, meaning British Airways, which first flew to China in 1980, can resume service with a first flight from London Heathrow to Shanghai on April 23 and to Beijing starting June 3. Flights to Shanghai are to be daily with capital Beijing getting four a week.
"We can’t wait to welcome our customers back on board our flights from Shanghai and Beijing. We know they’ve been looking forward to reuniting with family and friends, coming to study in the UK and resuming business between China and the UK. We have an incredibly rich history of flying to mainland China, having connected the two countries for more than 40 years. We look forward to resuming these routes again," said Noella Ferns, the carrier's head of sales, Asia Pacific.
