Two Bombardier aircraft have had to make emergency landings in less than a week because of a landing gear problem. On Tuesday pilots of a Skywest Airlines Bombardier CRJ200 aircraft landing at General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee reported that only two of the three sets of landing gear would lower. And last week, a Delta Connection flight, operated by Atlantic Southeast Airlines, made an emergency landing at JFK again because of problem with its landing gear.
Although there were no injuries in the two incidents, documents revealed by the Federal Aviation Administration documents show that there has been three other similar incidents with landing gear on Bombardier aircraft since 2008.
Bombardier officials have denied that there is a problem with the landing gear on the CRJ series aircraft. "These aircraft are in service with more than 60 airlines over the world," said Bombardier spokesman Marc Duchesne. "The aircraft has logged more than 27 million flight hours and more than 22 million takeoff and landing cycles, so these are very good and reliable aircraft.
