Boeing is all set to increase the production of its 787 Dreamliner from three to four per month at its Charleston, South Carolina assembly line. The quantity is likely to go up to five per month before the end of the year, according to a Reuters report quoting Boeing sources.
The ramp up in production rates is not exclusive to the Dreamliner. In April 2023, Boeing had announced that the Boeing 737 MAX assembly line in Renton, Washington, would see an increase in production from 31 to 38 aircraft per month.
Prior to pandemic, Boeing was manufacturing up to 14 Dreamliners per month, across two production facilities, Charleston and Seattle. The program suffered setback in recent years with deliveries being suspended due to technical issues in 2020, 2021 and also in February 2023.
As recently as September 2022 the production rate was two aircraft per month.
