Boeing reportedly resumes deliveries to China, state media reports
Chinese state media Shenzhen TV reported that Boeing had apparently resumed deliveries of new planes, including the 737 MAX and 787 Dreamliner, to China. The company had paused deliveries last month following concerns from the country's aviation authority surrounding Boeing's batteries in its cockpit voice recorders. Shenzhen TV had cited Boeing China president Liu Qing as a source. However, analysts at Deutsche Bank had initially speculated that a scheduled 737 MAX aircraft flight to China had signified resumed deliveries. Deutsche Bank analyst Scott Deutsche clarified on June 4, 2024: ""Our discussion with [Boeing] suggests that the aircraft contains a 2-hour cockpit voice recorder and was ticked for delivery some time ago. As such, this delivery does not appear to signal a broader delivery resumption."" Boeing executive vice president and chief financial officer Brian West said the second quarter deliveries may be flat or ""a little worse"" than its first quarter deliveries, mainly driven by the pause in deliveries to China. Boeing had delivered 83 aircraft in the first quarter.
