Boeing has announced plans to invest $7.5 million to formally establish a joint research centre with Tsinghua University of China to develop aircraft cabin environments, advanced materials, computer science and industrial designs.
The centre will also include a grant for the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences to investigate the application of biofuel extracted from algae for civil aircraft.
Boeing will invest $1 million dollars annually over the next five years to the research centre in cooperation with Tsinghua University, but both countries will share the results of the research.
