Boeing delivered 112 aircraft in Q3 and 328 aircraft in the last nine months of 2022, with 267 737MAXs. Boeing’s commercial order backlog is at 4,354 planes as per Boeing’s latest Q3 results. Boeing will be coming up with a detailed Q3 report on 26th October 2022.
Comparing the results with Airbus, the OEM has delivered 437 aircraft to 66 customers so far in 2022 with an average of 49 aircraft per month.
Thus, Boeing falls short of about 109 aircraft than Airbus at the end of Q3.
Boeing continues to see strong demand for new aircraft, which was clearly reflected in the deliveries for September 2022. Boeing delivered 51 aircraft in September while the orders rose by 90. August 2022, deliveries were 35 post-resumptions of 787 Dreamliner deliveries after a 15-month hold.
In September 2022, Boeing had 51 new 737 MAX airplane orders and 45 widebody airplanes, including 14 777s.
Currently, Boeing faces a deadline for regulatory approval of the MAX 10 and MAX 7. Boeing needs to meet the new modern cockpit-alerting requirements that could significantly delay the plane’s entry into service or get an extension from Congress.
As of now, there is no clear deadline as to when FAA would certify either the MAX 7 or the MAX 10 aircraft.
