Boeing's chief engineer and executive council member Greg Hyslop is to retire in June 2023 after a 41-year career and will be be succeeded by Howard McKenzie, the lead engineer in the commercial airplanes unit.
Hyslop, who is also executive vice president of engineering, test and technology, has led the engineering division since 2019. In the meantime he has "led the realignment of the company's engineers under one organisation, championed changes to empower engineers and instituted next-generation design practices", according to Boeing.
"Greg has modelled Boeing's commitment to engineering excellence throughout his four decades here," said Dave Calhoun, Boeing president and chief executive.
McKenzie was previously vice president and chief engineer of Boeing Global Services, the company's services and support business, and before that was vice president of Boeing Test & Evaluation. He will be succeeded in turn David Loffing, chief programme engineer of Boeing's new 777X airplane.
"Howard and David are brilliant engineering minds who bring strong technical expertise and deep program experience to their new roles," said Calhoun.
"When I think about the impact Boeing has on the world, I feel incredibly lucky to have worked with the talented people who take on the aerospace industry's most difficult problems," said Hyslop.
