Bluebox Aviation Appoints Sek Boon Foo as Director of Sales

Bluebox Aviation has appointed Sek Boon Foo as Director of Sales for the Asian-Pacific region. Singapore-based Sek Boon's appointment follows that of Neil Robinson in a similar role for EMEA in the latter part of 2016, and enhances the company's ability to support more customers globally.

Sek Boon brings over fifteen years of aviation industry experience to Bluebox, and a strong record of business development, specifically in the IFE systems market, having represented Lumexis Corporation in Asia. Starting out in the industry as an aircraft structures engineer, Sek Boon developed complementary expertise in programme management and aviation technology sales, with a particular emphasis in areas involving retrofit technologies and industry certification.

"The aviation industry in Asia is very dynamic and exciting, with new airlines entering the market and everyone competing to provide the best inflight experience to their passengers," Sek Boon said. "This means that there are lots of opportunities for Bluebox's portable and wireless IFE products, which give airlines a way to deploy IFE very quickly and cost-effectively."

Kevin Clark, Bluebox Aviation's CEO, said: "Sek Boon has spent his entire career in the aviation sector and he brings a superb blend of technical knowledge and commercial experience that will serve our clients and prospective clients well. Sek Boon is ideally placed to drive our ambitious growth plans in Asia and add to our existing list of clients in the region that includes Vietnam Airlines and Bangkok Airways."

Bluebox Aviation Systems Ltd. specialises in the provision of software solutions to the airline industry. Not only does the Bluebox IFE portfolio provide airlines the latest technology in tablets and wireless IFE solutions (fitted and portable), but exploits these platforms to provide a range of innovative service offerings as cost-effective alternatives to seatback IFE systems, service recovery solutions, accessibility services (for passengers with hearing and visual impairments) and ancillary revenue generation.

Bluebox Ai provides airlines with the benefits of off-the-shelf technology with customised software and ancillary components. The Bluebox Ai iPad-based software solution has been approved by all six major Hollywood studios for the delivery of early window content (EWC), allowing airlines to offer passengers the latest movies ahead of DVD release as well as wide range of other video, audio, reading and gaming content.

Bluebox also offers Bluebox Hybrid, an enhanced version of Bluebox Ai, that has been approved for connection to wireless streaming systems providing airlines with the ability to host content, including EWC on Bluebox Hybrid devices, augmented by content available on a certified wireless streaming system.

Bluebox wiFE and Bluebox Wow (Walk-on wiFE), the company's fitted and portable wireless systems, complete the solutions portfolio, with both providing wireless content streaming to passenger- and airline-owned devices.
