Bidders connected to Thomas Cook Airlines

In February 2019, Thomas Cook stated that it was exploring options for its airline after reporting a difficult first quarter.

Media sources have connected three entities expressing interest in the airline, including private equity KKR and EQT, and Chinese group Fosun International, however KKR and EQT have since denied they are interested in acquiring the airline or part of it. Fosun already owns a 17% stake in Thomas Cook but as a Chinese company it is prevented from owning a majority in the airline. Should the airline be sold to other investors, Fosun could up its stake in the group, which is what is being opined by The Financial Times.

This is all speculation at the moment since all of the parties connected to the potential sale so far have refused to comment on the swirling market rumours.
