Quarantine restrictions have now been relaxed at the Beijing Capital International Airport. From now onwards, passengers are no longer required to present with a negative COVID-19 test upon entry. However, no information is available on whether the outbound passengers leaving the terminal can also leave without a COVID-19 test result.
The decision was officially announced on December 6, 2022. This has shown positive trends in terms of passenger traffic with the number of daily flights Beijing Capital International Airport and Beijing Daxing International Airport increasing by 63% than previous days according to the bureau under the Civil Aviation Administration of China added.
The travel demand has shown an upward trend in North China brought by the continuous optimization measures, CAAC added.
The 2022 IATA annual meeting in June 2022 was originally set to take place in Shanghai, but was moved to Qatar due to China’s strict policy. China has remained one of the strictest countries in the world when it comes to entry requirements post-pandemic, with the country still operating a zero-COVID policy.
The decision to ease Beijing’s entry requirement comes after citizens expressed discontent over China’s strict COVID-19 laws.
