Allegiant Travel Company has announced the retirement of Kris Bauer, Senior Vice President of Operations. Bauer will officially step down September 1, but will continue to work for Allegiant in a part time role on special projects, allowing him to be removed from day-to-day operations but still be involved with the company's strategic planning and high-level execution.
"Despite our best efforts to convince him otherwise, Kris has decided that this is the right time for him to step down and enjoy an early retirement," said Andrew C. Levy, Allegiant President. "We are grateful for his many contributions and look forward to his continued contributions in his new role."
During Bauer's three year tenure at Allegiant, the company went from an average fleet of 48 aircraft serving 138 routes to an average fleet of 63 aircraft serving 198 routes. His leadership, drive and vision allowed the company to scale its operations to successfully meet the company's growth and position it for future success.
No replacement has been named. The company has retained an international executive search firm to identify a replacement. Bauer will also actively participate in finding a successor.
