Bamboo Airways affirms normalcy amidst new chief executive and boardroom appointment

Quashing all rumours of bankruptcy filing, Bamboo Airways released a statement stating that the airline is operating normally and focusing on ensuring absolute safe operation of flights.

“We have carefully researched and built various business plans to ensure the selection of the most suitable and feasible development orientation,” the statement said.

The airline also said it would continue to develop its flight network and optimize resource utilization to provide high quality service to customers.

“As of now, Bamboo Airways has been maintaining stable operations, conducting on-time flights with absolute safety. We will continue expanding the flight network and optimizing every resource to bring aviation services of quality, hospitality, and dedication to our passengers,” the statement added.

The statement comes on the backdrop of a string of top management and board changes at the airlines due to which the airline felt a need to reassure the stakeholders of its normalcy. A couple of days prior to the release of this statement, the new chief executive, Nguyen Minh Hai resigned after taking on the role in May. At the Annual General Meeting on June 21st, there was a major boardroom transition, and a new Chairman Oshima Hideki was elected. Deputy Chairman Nguyen Ngoc Trong has stepped in as Acting CEO following Hai's resignation.

With a new investor, a new board of directors and an acting CEO, the airline decided to reassure everyone that it was maintaining normal business operations. At the annual meeting, the airline said it plans to operate a fleet of 30-36 aircraft by the end of 2023 while keeping load factors at 81.5% and on-time performance of more than 90%.
