As usual all the talk, whipped up by Virgin Atlantic, is of BA having too much hold over Heathrow slots and therefore drowning out competition. Well let us all be honest with ourselves – Airlines in this day and age need to be large enough to have a strangle hold on slots at their home hub in order to see in the next decade – That said this is not entirely the case with BA as at Heathrow BA will now hold 53% of slots against 47% for others. Compare that if you will against Emirates at Dubai.
