British Airways has become the second major airline after Emirates to announce the suspension of services to countries affected by the ongoing outbreak of the Ebola virus.
British Airways stated that flights from Liberia and Sierra Leone would be cancelled until the end of August, noting that the "safety of our customers, crew and ground teams is always our top priority and we will keep the route under constant review in the coming weeks".
Other EU carriers still operating to the region include Brussels Airlines, which is still operating flights from Brussels to and from Liberia; and Air France, which is also still operating flights from Guinea. US carrier Delta Airlines is also maintaining services to the region.
A Delta spokesperson said: "Delta is closely monitoring conditions at Roberts International Airport in Monrovia, Liberia to ensure safe and secure operation for customers and employees."
