BA opens Speedbird Pilot Academy applications
British Airways has opened its second annual Speedbird Pilot Academy application process, a fully-funded training programme for up to 100 candidates, after which graduates will join the airline as a pilot. ‘By removing the initial training cost barrier, we’re levelling the playing field and making a flying career much more accessible to a wider range of people’ notes BA. Successful candidates, who must be aged 17-55 to apply, will then follow a process taking 18-24 months to complete and encompassing ground school, basic and advanced flight training, upset recovery training and multi-crew environment familiarisation. BA concludes that the application window may be closed early if it receives a ‘significant interest’ in the programme, and urges potential candidates to submit an application as soon as possible.
