British Airways has announced plans to launch two new routes to Southern Europe from London City Airport (LCY) from June 2011.
BA will fly to Málaga’s Pablo Ruiz Picasso Airport (AGP) in Spain four times a week and to Faro Airport (FAO) in Portugal three times a week.
The UK flag carrier is expanding its flight schedule at the London airport from next summer by increasing the number of flights on its service to Amsterdam service to six per day; flights to Glasgow will increase to five a day and eight daily flights to Edinburgh.
BA is also launching a new service to Chambéry in France from December to serve the ski resorts; and a service to Stockholm-Arlanda is starting from January. The new services are being operated by BA CityFlyer.
Summer flights to Palma and Ibiza will resume at the end of March, the airline said. “We recently announced that we had taken up options on two additional aircraft for our brand new Embraer fleet and this is giving us more opportunity to add destinations, frequency and capacity to our network,” says Luke Hayhoe, commercial manager for BA CityFlyer. “We have responded to customer demand, adding additional frequency and improving departure times to our existing Amsterdam, Edinburgh and Glasgow routes.”
The last of seven Embraer 190s ordered by BA CityFlyer will be delivered in June.
