AWAS has agreed to expand its relationship with Vietjet with the lease of two new A321 passenger aircraft in 2015. AWAS is providing a financing solution for these two aircraft and then placing them on long-term leases with the airline.

“Vietjet has grown faster than expected in the last few years and our previous purchasing plans for new aircraft could not keep up with developing demand. These two new A321s will be the 2nd and 3rd of the type in our fleet and will help us to maximise the opportunity on our high-density trunk routes like Ho Chi Minh City-Hanoi and other key regional destinations,” commented Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, President & CEO of Vietjet. “In March 2015, we received our first A321 aircraft, the 9,000th aircraft made by Airbus, as part of the original contract. This jet has already been put into operation safely and effectively.”

Marlin Dailey, Chief Commercial Officer AWAS commented, “AWAS is very pleased indeed to expand our relationship with Vietjet with the lease transaction of these two new A321 passenger aircraft. Vietjet’s evolution and the successful growth of their business model makes the A321’s additional passenger capacity, within their all-A320 family fleet, the perfect and natural next step for them.”
