Avolon has signed an order for 100 new LEAP-1A engines from CFM International, announced at the Dubai Airshow today (November 17).
The engines will be used to power 50 Airbus A320neo aircraft in Avolon’s orderbook.
Avolon said the LEAP-1A’s advanced technologies, such as composite fan blades and ceramic matrix composites, deliver a 15% boost in fuel efficiency and 15% lower carbon emissions compared to prior-generation CFM56 engines.
The lessor, which has been a CFM customer since 2010, currently manages a fleet of 99 A320neo family aircraft powered by LEAP-1A engines, and it has firm orders for an additional 163 LEAP-1A-powered aircraft.
As of September 30, 2025, Avolon had a total of 149 A320neo family aircraft and an orderbook of 347 A320neo family aircraft.
