Avolon has entered a sale and leaseback agreement for one Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner to TAAG Angola Airlines, the country’s flag carrier.
The deal is Avolon’s first lease with TAAG, and the aircraft was delivered at the end of September.
The aircraft is powered by GEnx engines with a range of over 7,500 nautical miles.
It will support the expansion of TAAG’s long-haul network, with its fleet of 18 aircraft already flying to multiple destinations across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
Paul Geaney, president and chief commercial officer of Avolon, noted that over the 20 years, Africa is expected to be one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets.
“As Angola’s flag carrier, TAAG will play an important role in expanding the route network across the region,” he said.
“We are proud to welcome TAAG as a new customer and support the growth of their widebody fleet.”
