Aviation specialist law firm Watson Farley & Williams announces raft of new partners

Watson Farley & Williams (WFW) has promoted eleven lawyers to the firm’s partnership across eight of its offices.

The promotions take the firm's number of partners to 195, with several of the promotions covering airlines and aviation-related operations.

Laura Cadenas was made a partner covering assets and structured finance in Madrid, due to her "extensive expertise in aircraft financing for helicopters, commercial aircraft and business jets, as well as tax lease transactions for ships, shipbuilding contracts and ECA-backed financings".

Shusuke Fukunaga was named partner for the same sectors in Tokyo.  "He regularly advises banks, trading houses, corporate investors, airlines, leasing companies, ECAs and other financial institutions," WFW said.

Philip Jackmauh has been named partner for assets and structured finance in New York and will again focus on "structuring and negotiating a broad range of cross-border, multi-jurisdictional aircraft acquisition, lease and financing transactions, as well as associated dispute resolution", WFW said.

Giannalberto Mazzei is to be a partner in Rome where he will be covering public law, regulatory and competition, with a particular focus on regulation relating to energy projects, renewables and gas, including LNG and hydrogen, and the transport sector, primarily aviation, according to WFW.

Richard Williams will be an assets and structured finance partner in Singapore, making use of a  "broad range of experience with a strategic focus on aviation finance and the leasing sector where he advises banks, investors, leasing companies and airlines on the full range of asset finance products".

The other promotions covered sectors such as shipping, real estate and power plants.

“I’m delighted to welcome eleven such talented lawyers to our partnership. Their passion and commitment greatly enhance both our partnership and the firm generally and ensures WFW will continue to expand and succeed as we go forward," said senior partner George Paleokrassas.
