Aviation Capital Group orders 50 Boeing 737 MAX jets

Aviation Capital Group (ACG) has ordered 50 737 MAX jets today (January 13).

“This order for additional 737 MAX aircraft enhances the strategic value of ACG's orderbook, supports a key pillar of our growth strategy and reinforces our commitment to the latest fuel-efficient aircraft technology,” said ACG CEO and president Thomas Baker.

The order consists of 25 737 MAX 8 and 25 of the larger and yet-to-be certified MAX 10 variant. A Reuters report yesterday suggested the variant has moved to the second phase of flight testing after receiving approvals from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), citing a source familiar with the programme.

Boeing has previously said it expects to finish certification for both the MAX 7 and 10 this year.

ACG's order marks the largest order for the MAX 10 by a lessor.

“With this repeat order, ACG continues to be an established and highly valued partner on the 737 MAX program, and we look forward to deepening this relationship in the coming years as we deliver its first 737-10 airplanes,” said Boeing SVP of commercial sales and marketing Brad McMullen.

Deliveries for this order are scheduled for delivery in 2032 and 2033.

“We are pleased to be able to offer our global customers a continuous stream of 737 MAX delivery positions from 2026 to 2033 to support their growth, as well as the versatility of both the 737-8 and 737-10 variants," said Baker.

With this new order, the lessor has increased its 737 MAX orderbook to 121 aircraft. The company said it is expanding the portfolio to meet “growing customer demand for fuel-efficient airplanes”.

All of the aircraft in this order will be powered by LEAP-1B engines from CFM International.
