Avianca transports 27.8% more passengers in 2023 than 2022
Avianca has reported a net income of $131 million for the full year 2023, with a total full year operating revenue of $4,773 million. EBITDAR stood at $1,200 million.  It was also recognised as the most on-time global airline in 2023 (according to Cirium analysis) with an on-time performance score of 85.7%, up from 2022’s 84.8%. During the year, the airline transported a record number of passengers (32 million), a 27.8% increase relative to 2022 and representing “a combination of strong demand and capacity deployment”. As of the end of the year, the carrier offered services to 75 destinations across 147 routes, reporting a load factor of 82.4%. In 2024, Avianca expects to increase its available seat kilometres by 30% to 65.6bn. In 2023, its fleet stood at a total of 158 aircraft, of which seven were owned and 151 were leased; representing an increase of 18 aircraft. Cargo revenues for 2023 decreased 20.6% relative to 2022 ‘due to marketing softening, though still above business plan,’ notes the airline. Cargo and other revenue accounted for $0.76 million, down from $0.92 million in the full year 2022.
