Avianca has ramped its capacity between Colombia and Spain by increasing number of seats by 50% as a part of airline’s effort to increase its market share.

From June 12, the airline will go from operating 42 flights per week between Bogota El Dorado International (BOG) and Madrid Barajas (MAD) to 46 weekly flights.

The airline will also increase its capacity also on Bogota to Barcelona El Prat International (BCN) route from 14 to 28 weekly flights, leading to a total increase of 21,000 seats.

David Alemán, Sales Director for Colombia and South America, Avianca said: “The demand for travelers flying to and from Europe continues to increase every year, and that is why we are making a historic commitment to this market, which has opened its doors to us and has allowed thousands of passengers from all over Latin America to connect with Spain, as well as boosting the arrival of tourists to Colombia and the region. This operation and its growth are in addition to what we already offer under our point-to-point strategy, through which we connect Madrid with cities such as Medellín and Cali with direct flights.”

Additionally, from June 20 to September 21, the airline will add direct flights between San Salvador and Madrid with an offer of 6 flights a week, operated by Wamos Air.

Avianca carried over 700,000 passengers between Colombia and Spain in 2022.
