Avianca is to open three new routes connecting Colombia and Ecuador, it announced on December 20.
From March 2023, four flights a week will link Quito and Medellin, with six a week for the flights into Medellin and Cartegena from Guayaqil.
"We are very confident that these new flights will appeal to customers in Ecuador and Colombia," said María Beatriz González, Avianca's commercial manager.
The flights could carry 14,000 passengers a month, the airline said.
"The increase of routes and frequencies, domestic and international, of Avianca, confirms the confidence of airlines to invest in Ecuador", according to Jose Luis Aguilar, the country's vice minister for transport and public works.
