ACMI provider Avia Solutions Group said on Wednesday (October 22) that it has sold SmartLynx Latvia to its management and a Dutch fund, as it moves to consolidate its European air operator's certificate (AOC) into three brands.
The company said it plans to merge SmartLynx Estonia and SmartLynx Malta into a rebranded company, as well as “explore further efficiency enhancements” within its European AOC network.
“The Group estimates that an optimal fleet size for one AOC is around 27-30 aircraft,” the company said.
Avia Solutions Group currently owns AOCs in the UK, Turkey, Malta, Slovakia, Estonia, and Lithuania.
Jonas Janukenas, CEO of Avia Solutions Group, said: "By consolidating our European AOCs and expanding into counter-cyclical markets in Asia Pacific and Latin America, we aim to optimise year-round operations.”
By year-end, the Group aims to either complete or begin establishing AOCs in Australia, Brazil, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. It currently holds 11 AOCs and operates a global fleet of 187 aircraft.
