Australia considering opening up domestic market to foreign airlines

A new proposal from the Australian government has suggested giving foreign airlines clearance to fly passengers between domestic airports in northern Australia.

This open skies policy would help stimulate competition in northern Australia and lower prices for consumers. Qantas and Virgin have reacted against the plan saying that foreign airlines would become de-facto domestic airlines and harm Australian companies.
