An Atlas Air Boeing 747-8 cargo plane with crew members onboard made an emergency landing at Miami International Airport after the GEnx-2B engine faced a malfunction shortly after departure, reports Reuters. Unverified footage on X (formally known as Twitter) showed flames shooting out of the left wing of the aircraft mid-flight. Reuters reported that there were no injuries and the aircraft managed to return safely.
The US Federal Aviation Administration will reportedly investigate the incident.
The aircraft was heading to San Juan, Puerto Rico when the pilot made a mayday call to report an engine fire, requesting to return back to the airport. The incident involved engine number two and occurred as the plane was leaving the airport.
