ASUR reports 18.9% revenue increase for Q1 2023

Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (ASUR) revenue increased by 18.9% year-on-year to Ps (Peseta) 6.4bn (US$ 360 million) in the first quarter of 2023 (Q1 2023)

Earnings (EBIDTA) were up 23.2% over the period to Ps 4.5bn, leaving the Mexico-based carrier with a cash position of PS 15.1bn at the end of the quarter for a net debt to earnings ratio of negative 0.1x, while net income climbed by just over 10% to Ps 2.6bn.

Mexico remained the commercial focus for the carrier, accounting for around Ps 4.7bn of the reported revenue, with the remainder derived from Colombia and Puerto Rico.

The revenue increase was broken down in to a  21.9% rise from aeronautical services, 21.6% in revenues from non-aeronautical services.

The revenue increase was driven by a 19.2% jump in passenger traffic, with Mexico up almost 23%, Puerto Rico by around 22% and Colombia almost 9%.

However the cost of services rose by almost 40%, ASUR reported, while administrative expenses rose by 11.5%. The carrier reported a foreign exchange loss of Ps 489 million and an tax increase of almost Ps 170 million.
