A strong third-quarter for Asiana Airline saw net income before taxes of KRW203.7 billion ($184 million), as revenue rose 34.1% over the same period last year to KRW1.38 trillion.
Operating income was KRW239.1 billion, the highest ever posted for the September quarter by the airline, Passenger numbers were good too, with traffic up 11.4% to 6.94 billion RPKs on a 6.9% rise in capacity to 8.88 billion ASKs, producing a load factor of 78.1%, up 3.2 points.
The airline credits the recovery of outbound passenger demand to countries such as China and Japan, while easier visa issuance for Chinese and [the] visa waiver program to the [US] made international passengers grow.
