Asia Pacific airlines carried 34.3 million international passengers in August 2025, up 8.8% compared to the same month last year, according to traffic figures published by the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA).
The association said the figures show “continued growth" in international passenger demand, driven by strong business and leisure travel activity across the region.
Revenue passenger kilometres (RPKs) grew by 9.1%, and the average international passenger load factor for the region averaged 82.9%.
“During the first eight months of the year, Asia Pacific airlines carried 258 million international passengers, a 10.8% increase compared to the same period last year, while international air cargo demand grew by 6.4%,” said Subhas Menon, director general at AAPA.
“Shifts in trade flows, driven by higher tariffs, also lent support to cargo traffic growth from the region’s major manufacturing hubs.”
Menon said carriers are “cautiously optimistic” for the remainder of the year, with travel demand expected to remain resilient, offset by continued supply chain constraints in the aviation industry and pressures on operating costs.
