Archer one step closer to finishing first Midnight aircraft

Archer Aviation is "nearing completion of the final assembly" of Midnight, the production electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft it has been working on.

San Jose-based Archer said it aims to start test flights of the eVTOL, which it unveiled in November 2022, by the middle of 2023.

"This latest milestone is further validation of our strategic approach of using known building blocks to enable realistic innovation significantly de-risking our path to certification and mass manufacturing," said chief operations officer Tom Muniz.

Archer said it has started making components for a pilot-flown Midnight, which it hopes to finish in late 2023 ahead of test flights in early 2024.

“A lot goes on behind the scenes to advance the development of our aircraft as efficiently as we have. I couldn’t be more excited to share the news of Archer’s progress on Midnight,” said Muniz.
