Apollo Aviation Management appoints Pat O’Brien to its board of directors

Apollo Aviation Management Limited (AAML), the Irish subsidiary for international full service aviation asset manager Apollo Aviation Group (AAG), has announced that Pat O’Brien has been elected as a new independent director to its Board. O’Brien is a former KPMG Partner who specialised in aviation finance and advising international aircraft leasing companies.

William Hoffman, AAG’s and AAML’s Chairman, said: “Apollo Aviation Management is actively engaged in helping deploy the US$594 million in committed capital that Apollo Aviation Group raised earlier this year. Pat O’Brien’s wealth of experience will ensure he provides strong and able leadership as Apollo Aviation Management rapidly becomes one of the largest mid-life aircraft lessors based in Ireland.”

With postings in both Dublin and New York, O’Brien’s 32 years with KPMG saw him act as tax advisor to many leading international aviation leasing firms. He became a specialist on the cross-border tax implications of leasing aircraft into multiple jurisdictions. He also worked with the Irish Department of Finance on many legislative amendments to support Ireland’s pre-eminent position in the aviation sector.

O’Brien is a Commerce graduate of University College Dublin. After joining KPMG in 1979 he became a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and a Fellow of the Irish Taxation Institute.
