The union representing American Airlines flight attendants has warned its workers to prepare for strike action over the summer following a breakdown in contract negotiations.
The Association of Professional Flight Attendants (APFA) informed its members in a statement released Friday May 31, 2024, that intensive mediation had concluded “with no agreement”:
“Two weeks of intensive mediation at the National Mediation Board (NMB) offices in Washington, D.C., failed to produce an agreement with American Airlines.
“We remain apart on the key economics of the deal plus the company’s completely unacceptable demand for scheduling concessions.
“All Flight Attendants need to prepare for a strike”.
However, the APFA has commented that negotiations may not be completely over, saying: “We believe the Board will call the parties in for one last ditch effort in the next two weeks but that has not been set”.
