Air New Zealand has brought forward its maiden B787-9 commercial flight to the upcoming weekend. The aircraft will be deployed on the carrier's Auckland-Sydney route on Saturday, August 9th, with the return flight scheduled for Sunday, August 10th.
Air New Zealand had previously planned to introduce the B787-9 on October 15th with flights to Perth, in order to beat All Nippon Airways to the title of “first operator”
ANA responded by deploying its first B787-9 into revenue service on August 7th, becoming the first global operator of the variant.
