All Nippon Airways is reported to be considering acquiring an equity stake in Philippine Airlines (PAL), according to a report by the Wall Street Journal.
Shinya Katanozaka, chief executive of ANA Holdings, said that the carrier is seeking to bolster its hold on Asian traffic through joint venture agreements and equity stakes and has approached a “number of Asian airlines”.
ANA and PAL have held discussion before about a possible link up in 2013 but that was abandoned, yet a codeshare was established in October 2014.
Katanozaka confirmed that ANA is considering investments in Vietnam Airlines, Garuda Indonesia, and Philippine Airlines.
