The Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transportation and Tourism has approved All Nippon Airways and Japan Airlines to form transpacific joint ventures with Continental Airlines and United Airlines, in the case of ANA, and American Airlines for JAL. The airlines were approved by the US department for Transportation earlier this month. The newly-linked networks are expected to begin from 2011.
