Japanese investigators have announced that lithium ion battery onboard All Nippon Airways’ (ANA) 787 aircraft that failed shows signs of an “uncontrollable high temperature” associated with “thermal runaway”. The Japan Transport Safety Board (JTSB) however has not been able to determine the cause of the lithium ion battery failures.
