Airlines across America are on high alert offering waivers, sending out alerts and warnings to anxious passengers and offering free ticket exchanges ahead of the winter storm Elliott.
The massive winter storm Elliott is expected to wreak havoc in America this week, just ahead of the holiday weekend leading to flash freeze and icy roads with meteorological department predicting this to be the coldest Christmas America has seen in last 40 years. Airlines across the country have additional staff manning the counters helping anxious tourists for a safe journey.
To provide additional flexibility for its customers and to prevent last-minute disruptions at the airport, American has issued travel alerts for 86 airports in the Northeast and Midwest, and across portions of the East Coast, allowing customers whose travel plans are affected by Winter Storm Elliott to rebook without change fees.
If a customer chooses not to fly to/from an airport covered by the current waiver, American will waive change fees for future travel.
If an American flight has been canceled or excessively delayed, customers may cancel their itinerary and request a refund by visiting American’s website. Customers who booked through a travel agent should contact their travel agency directly.
American will continue tracking this weather system and make any adjustments to ensure the safety of its customers and team members.
Delta Airlines people are ready to assist customers in getting to their destinations as quickly as possible through the challenges presented by weather. Delta has issued weather advisories enabling customers to rebook their travel for a later date.
United Airlines have also provided waivers and exemptions to their passengers. In the United Midwest, the passengers who bought tickets by last Saturday for travel between December 21, 2022 and Christmas will get exemptions. Airports like Chicago O'Hare, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Minneapolis and St. Louis fall in this waiver. Texas waiver is for customers, who purchased their tickets by December 18, 2022 for a journey from December 22, 2022 to December 25. Austin, Dallas, El Paso and Houston fall under this waiver.
Southwest Airlines has implemented a Rocky Mountain and Midwest Winter Weather waiver for various North Eastern destinations. Whereas, JetBlue offered a Midwest Winter Weather Fee Waiver for people changing flights between Chicago, Kansas City, Milwaukee and Minneapolis.
